The “Real” First Day of Training High

It’s so exhilarating to get back in the swing of working. I am still on a high from Monday’s shift, my real first day of training. But geesh, did it tire me out. I did NOT want to wake up yesterday morning, but I did…eventually. Luckily, all I had to do was some more computer-based trainings (two-thumbs way down).

When I began working on Monday, I didn’t know how I was ever going to remember all the many computer-based trainings I had been doing. Or all the information my boss very briefly went over with me. She was talking so fast, I felt like my head was spinning.

Surprisingly, I picked up everything extremely quick. I think it’s because the duties are a lot like my one of my previous jobs as a library assistant. It was really nice interacting with the customers and helping them with their purchases. I didn’t realize how much I missed helping others until Monday.

You want to know the crazy thing?

From the first time I got the call from this company about an interview, I fought the idea of working there and helping people is their business. It’s not that I don’t like the company or believe in what they do. Actually, I really do. I have really enjoyed shopping there and as much as I knew I needed a job, I really wanted a job in my field. You can’t blame me, right? But now that I am learning about the practices and procedures of the company, I have a new found appreciation for it.

Guess what?

One of my coworkers told me “for this to be your first day, you did extremely well.” And my boss told me “you did an awesome job and I am not worried about you at all.” WOOT WOOT!

I am so excited about what’s next to come.
