Brunch in Brooklyn

Whenever anyone talks about New York City, they describe it as the “the city that never sleeps.” Then they continue by saying “there is always something to do.”

And I am not doubting that.

I just personally haven’t seen it yet, but I want to.

So, this weekend, I dragged my love to Brooklyn for what I thought was like a farmer’s market for foodies. I either got the days mixed up or the news report was an over-exxageration because I saw all of five food trucks. It was more like a crafts market than anything and I wasn’t interested in that at all. I came strictly for the food.

For a minute, I thought it was going to be a complete bust because my love wasn’t really interested in either because it was hot and he was wearing all black everything.

As we walked back to the car, we decided to pop in to this little restaurant on Berry Street called “Juniper”. Just as we were walking in, two women were leaving making us the only two customers in the restaurant, which scared me. I had no idea what to expect and the menu options were limited, but I did peep the restaurant letter grade on the window so that eased my mind.

You guys, I have never been to a such a little, unassuming restaurant and had such good food. Ever. In my life. Everything was pure deliciousness.

I ordered a bowl of crab and corn chowder soup with a catfish sandwich as my entree and my love ordered some buffalo wings and a slow-roasted barbeque sandwich. Please believe, there was definitely some I’m-trying-so-hard-to-be-a-lady-slurping and lip smacking going on and I am not even ashamed because it was that good.

We nearly waddled away from how full we were. I mean, who can turn down a restaurant with good food, good portions and descent prices. It really doesn’t get much better than that.

If that’s how Brooklyn gets down, I will definitely be back.
