For as long as I can remember, the fiancé has been talking about going to a winery. The dilemma: I didn’t drink wine so who would he go with?
That’s no longer an issue as I have since found a couple of wines that actually suit my palate. I prefer the fruity and sweet wines and he likes the dry ones, which was evident when we went wine tasting on Saturday.
We pulled up to the Chaddsford Winery full of excitement where we immediately saw groups of people sitting on a deck drinking wine. We originally thought they were waiting on food at the shop behind them. Nope. They were just enjoying the nice weather and wine. I took that as a good sign.
We walked inside and the entire place was a buzz. There were groups of people chatting in little side rooms, a line of people buying wine by the caseload, and a wine tasting in the back room where we were headed.
The wine tasting featured 10 wines including the newest one, Spring Wine, which was amazing. It is described as “a delightful spritz upon opening that highlights notes of pineapple, citrus and peach on the palate.” It reminded me of a nice fruit salad where the pineapple steals the show. So Yummy.
The wines were divided by two tables. The first table had what I would say is the more traditional wine because most of them were dry, which the fiancé loved. I didn’t mind those ones and I remember thinking they had a lighter taste than dry ones that I have tasted in the past, but they weren’t my favorites.
My favorites were at the next table and I couldn’t wait to get there. I had already seen Niagra, which is currently the only wine that I buy. But I was looking forward to trying the other wines I had seen in stores, but was too chicken to purchase just in case I didn’t like them. The verdict: I loved the Sunset Blush, Spiced Apple and the Sangria.
Get this, the Sangria made such an impression on the fiancé, he bought an entire case. So much for not liking sweet wines.
