Like most little girls with siblings, I grew up wanting to be just like my big sister V. I wanted to be beautiful, fashionable and a social butterfly just like her. I still do. I even wanted to one day find a boy who would treat me like her first real boyfriend treated her.
Even though they were only in high school, he really taught her how a woman was supposed to be treated. And dare I say spoiled. I am talking dinner at expensive restaurants and expensive gifts like Movado watches and so much more. He was a really good guy.
Throughout their relationship, they went to several nice restaurants. Ones that I had never heard of, but then again, I am five years younger than her so that would make sense. But the one I remember her talking about the most was McCormick and Schmick’s: Seafood Restaurant. I told myself that one day I am going to go there and Friday I was given that opportunity. It was Restaurant Week in Philly and I couldn’t think of a better time to see what she was talking about all of that time.
When I walked into the revolving doors, I was immediately impressed. I honestly didn’t notice the aesthetics of the restaurant, but the service was on-point. Everyone was all smiles and professional and it was just very refreshing. The food was Amazing with a capital A.
I ordered off of the prix-fix menu and ordered lobster bisque, pan-seared flounder with butternut squash orzo and green beans and an upside down apple pie with cinnamon ice cream. Is your mouth watering as much as mine is typing this? Yum. The boyfriend doesn’t really eat seafood so he ordered a steak. Such a man.
Some time during dinner, I looked around the restaurant and thought about all the stories my sister shared with me about that restaurants. I began to smile when I thought about how she sat across from a really good guy that adored her. And now I was sitting next to a really good guy who adores me.
