You know what I love about Groupon?
It makes far-fetched, distant and sometimes even wacky experiences possible.There is something about realizing an adventure is in your budget.
That’s what happened with my recent vacation to Canada.
One day, I was browsing the app saying how I’ve always wanted to see Niagara Falls. My love agreed but it was just a casual conversation.
I never thought we would actually go.
But again, it was in our budget and just a short drive away.
It was a no brainer.
When I told people where I was going, so many people said they always wanted to see them, but never got a chance. Or, they saw them when they were younger and don’t remember them.
After coming back (and wishing I didn’t have to), I would highly recommend everyone take that trip.
But, and this is my main requirement, you have to see them when you are an adult to really appreciate the beauty of the three collective falls that comprise Niagara Falls.
It is truly something special.
It felt like a gift that I was able to actually go see something that extraordinary and breathtaking. Everything about the town was so calming that it made you really stop and take notice. It slowed you down in a sense.
Each morning, I woke up to the tranquil sound of running water. I’d open our curtains the widest they would go just so that I can steal extra peeks of the Horshoe Falls, the largest of the three falls.
I enjoyed watching how it changed throughout the day. From my hotel room, it was haloed by a puff of mist in the morning. At night, it was illuminated by colorful lights that gave it even more character.
But seeing it up close was a whole different experience.
For me, it was a reminder that there is a God. Of what he’s capable of and it made me feel silly for worrying about the little things I have been worrying about. Because if he can do that….man.
Plus, because I’m a person who believes in signs, I know there isn’t anything to worry about. Change is on the horizon.
A ribbon in the sky told me so.
p.s I’m not a dirt ball. This was the same day I went to the wine tasting.
