I am one of those procrastinating gift givers who wait for the very last minute to get presents. Part of the reason is I am trying to ensure that I am getting the best price. Needless to say, the fiancé just got his Christmas gift this weekend, but I think I made up for it by surprising him with Philadelphia Eagles tickets. It’s something that he has been talking about for a while because he has never gone to a game. Because they were division champions, I knew this was one gift that he would not expect and go absolutely bananas over. Though his initial reaction was not one that anyone would expect (except me), he really enjoyed himself.
Let me just say this. You know you really love someone when you are willing to sit at a game that you care nothing about for three hours in the Fah-reeeeeezing cold. I am talking like 11 degree weather and I don’t care what anybody says, there are not enough layers in the world to keep you warm at that temperature. I was bundled up to the point that I even pulled out my super long coat from college and it was still biting. My upper body was fine, but my toes and my hands were numb and as much I wanted to complain, I really couldn’t. Seeing his excitement and the way he interacted with other men in our row, made me smile. I have watched several games with him and I never saw him act the way he was acting and I guess that has a lot to do with the company he was in. It was so nice that I was able to afford him that experience. Normally, it’s the other way around.
We end up losing the game and our chance to go to the next round of the playoffs, which was disappointing even for me. I don’t have to be a die-hard sports fan to want my city’s team to succeed. I also had my heart seat on seeing confetti and more fireworks.
Oh well. Until next time Eagles! We will meet again and this time, we’ll be closer to the field.
