Growing up, the holidays were always the best time of year for me. It was one of the times that I knew that I would see everyone. My aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents and even friends of my relatives. My aunt did it up cooking for days to feed everyone and by estimation that could easily be forty to fifty people. And she did it so effortlessly. She was amazing.
As I sat at my brother’s dining room table, I thought about those days. The crowd wasn’t nearly as big, but the overflowing love was and that’s what always made those Thanksgiving feasts special to me.
This year has been difficult at times, but never short of amazing and I am thankful for all of it.
I am thankful for a loving and supportive family that believes in me when I often times don’t believe in myself.
I am thankful for my boyfriend who has been my rock through the smiles, laughs, tears and pain.
I am thankful for a job that challenges me, teaches me patience, gives me a sense of independence and reminds me to chase my dreams everyday.
I am thankful for good health and a functional body.
I am thankful for the new women in my life who inspires and uplifts me to my full potential every time we talk.
I am thankful for my new vision that fuels me everyday to work for what I really want.
I am thankful for the journey of life that constantly teaches me that nothing is done to the letter and I should enjoy the process.
I am thankful for second chances, new opportunities and endless possibilities.
I am thankful for past experiences and situations that have showed me what type of woman I am and the one I would like to be. And the friend I am and the one I would like to be.
I am also thankful for all the many things we take for granted such as a place to call home, food to eat, clothes on my back and shoes on my feet.
I am so thankful for this blog that allows me to vent and perfect my writing skills. And I am thankful for you guys who return to see what I am doing and what I am ranting and writing about next. I appreciate it.
So very thankful.
