Let’s Try This One Again

If you stopped by yesterday, you know that I started a new job. Better yet, you know that I was supposed to start a new job.

Before I went in for my training, the boyfriend said “do you want me to stay, just in case.” I flagged him off like “just in case what?” “No, I should be fine,” I said.

I walked in all giddy and was immediately led back to the training area. After 5 minutes passed, the manager on duty called the woman who hired me looking for my employee ID because it was no where in the system.

Thirty minutes later and a useless call to the help desk, I was sent home because there was nothing anyone could do. The manager had never seen the system act like that and didn’t want me just waiting around all day for nothing. I understood.

I called my boyfriend asking if he felt like picking me back up after telling him what happened. He did. I think it is crazy how he somehow instinctively knew that something was going to go wrong. I see that I have to start really listening to what people say.

When I came home, I didn’t know what to do with myself. I had the day planned out and now what was I supposed to do? I felt like taking a nap because I had gotten up so early, but I knew that was going to happen so I watched a little television.

Around 1 p.m., the woman who hired me called apologizing for what took place. She told me that the computer wasn’t allowing me to fill out the last part of necessary documents before I could begin training and wanted to know if I would call her boss so that I could do it over the phone. She said it would only take about 10 minutes.

Not.

Her boss’ computer was acting so slow. It would only let her get through two questions at a time before freezing for five minutes. Through out the entire process, she sassed mouth her computer “like really, you are really not going to let me go to the next page? Great.” and “I know you have all day, but I am sure Yasmein has better things to do today than sit here and wait for you.” Hilarious.

She eventually restarted her computer as we engaged in small talk about her dogs and the importance of getting rescued dogs versus those from a puppy mill. I found her to be extremely funny and thought it would be nice to meet her to put a face to a name. The call took 40 minutes, which is fine because now I can hopefully start today on a good foot.

Let’s try this one again: Wish me luck! (for real this time, I hope)
