New Year’s Resolutions and Hispanic Food

Like you, I ended 2012 with a vision for what is to come this year. I’ll admit, I have never been one of those people to make a New Year’s resolution. Mainly because, who really keeps them? Am I right?

I have never been one of those people to make a New Year's resolution. Then a friend stressed the importance of making goals.

This is me with four out of eight of my siblings (they are all light-skinned) and a friend of the family.

Then, a friend stressed the importance of making goals (or a New Year’s resolution). More specifically, she emphasized visualizing your goals through a vision board. Apparently, Oprah (yes, Lady O) swears by them. While it took me a while to get on board, I now realize how important making goals is for your development.

That’s why this year, my New Year’s resolutions include:

  • Writing for myself by blogging
  • Start living healthier by eating better
  • Incorporate a workout regimen into my weekly schedule
  • Improve relationships in my life especially with my family through dinners
I have never been one of those people to make a New Year's resolution. Then a friend stressed the importance of making goals.

This is me (C) with my big sister (L) and my aunt.

This Saturday, my family and I met for our third family dinner and it was so much fun. The theme was Hispanic foods so the menu included fajitas, tacos, Spanish rice and more. I brought vanilla flan with butterscotch sauce and alfajores. I ate both a lot when I studied abroad my senior year in Argentina.

My family tore up the alfajories, which are sandwich cookies filled with a caramel-like sauce cauled dulce de leche. Sadly, the flan sat most of the night because it got messed up on the way to the event. It slid out of the bag during our trip to Philly. I have some more of the ingredients so I will give it another try.

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution this year? If so, what were your goals and how are you working to achieve them?
