The Unexpected Reminder To Chase My Dreams

I’m not really sure why I insist on knowing why everyone chooses a specific career. Perhaps it’s the story behind each career choice. I don’t know, but I love to see the way people think and how they reason.

I asked one of my coworkers why she selected her field and instead of just asking me the same question in return, she asked me what my end result was and whether I have a plan after learning I have a degree in Journalism and Spanish.

You are not really supposed to tell people at the job you just got about a month ago that you are planning to leave in the future. And you can’t say that you really like the job but… you got your heart on a position in your field and in another state. Luckily, I was saved by the bell when I patron asked for assistance.

But it made me think. What is my end result? What is my plan? I, like most people I am sure, get complacent with jobs. Sometimes its easier to just do good work at the job we have versus really going for what we want. But, I have done that and it didn’t turn out so well for me. This time has to be different.

To be honest, I really don’t know to answer those questions. All I know is that as much as I enjoy the new job and learning about the new field, I don’t know how long I will stay there. More than anything, I want to utilize my degree and being at my current position pushes me to do that everyday. I really can’t see my self willing subjecting myself to getting cursed out every day from disgruntled customers. Plus, working with young and educated women really inspires me to follow my own dreams. I hope you will stay for the journey.

Have a great weekend!!!
